One of my favourite things about The Things In Between is the music, mainly because I wasn’t particularly keen on the idea. Outside of the karaoke scene and end credits, I never really thought of the film with music. Now I can’t think of it without it. I am hugely indebted to Joshua Lawson, the film’s composer, and SYBS, the music duo behind “Flex on the Beat” (which Grace sings so passionately at karaoke). I’d like to share their sounds with you in hopes that they bring you as much joy as they’ve brought me.

SYBS // from the karaoke scene
SYBS is a sibling duo whose sound is a contemporary fusion of Urban Pop, R&B, and African influenced rhythms. In March of 2019, their single "Flex On The Beat" landed at #25 on the UK Commercial Pop Charts.

Joshua Lawson // music composer
Joshua started writing music as a kid and taught himself how to play the piano. He also joined a black Japanese rap group and at 19 toured in Japan (seriously, Google black Japanese rappers and their video is a top hit). Since then, he’s scored video games and short film soundtracks in addition to writing music.
